DESCRIPTION:Mr Handel & His Merry Musicians\n\nPhoto © Ben Tomlin  \nIn this programme\, self-devised by the current Arcangelo New Ensemblists\, the group will explore works composed for the brilliant orchestral musicians who played in Handel’s orchestra at the Theatre Royal\, Haymarket. The music by Handel\, Castrucci\, Corbett\, Sammartini\, and Haym will show the dazzling virtuosity of both those players and the ones in this ensemble. Musicians: Arcangelo New Ensemblists Jonathan Cohen harpsichord Programme: William Corbett (c. 1675–1748) Concerto in B-flat (Al’Inglese) from Le Bizzarie universali\, Op. 8 Pietro Castrucci (1679–1752) Violin Sonata Op. 1 No. 3 in G minor Michael Christian Festing (1705–52) Concerto in G major\, Op. 5 No. 7 Giuseppe Sammartini (1695–1750) Trio sonata in G minor\, Op. 3 No. 5 Nicola Francesco Haym (1768–1729) Sonata in A minor/E minor for Cello and Basso continuo William Corbett Concerto No. 10 in B-flat (Alla Spagniola) from Le Bizzarie universali\, Op. 8 Pietro Castrucci Violin Sonata in D minor\, Op. 1 No. 7 George Friderick Handel (1685–1759) Sonata in G major\, Op.5 No. 4/HWV 399 \nThe programme will last approximately 70 minutes. There will be a 20 minute interval.\nTickets for this concert are priced according to the seating plan shown below. In each section seating is unreserved and will be allocated on a first-come-first-seated basis.  \nDoors open at 6.00pm.\nDrinks (alcoholic and soft) will be available.\nThe programme may be subject to change.
